Inaugurated in 2002, Vega’s Private Reserve of Natural Heritage (RPPN) has an area equivalent to 1/3 of the plant’s land. In addition to hosting environmental education actions, it enables development of research on existing biodiversity.
Its implantation included a step to recover the ‘put-away’ areas – where the earth resulting from the earthmoving during Vega’ construction was placed – by planting native species, with seedlings cultivated in a nursery in the PNHR itself.
One of the attractions of the Reserve is the eco-trail, with approximately 860 meters, in which Environmental Education activities are carried out for employees, family members and community residents. The trail has two belvederes, which provide a panoramic view of the local flora and fauna and the industrial unit.
